Section N of the SIC 7 covers administrative and support service activities, with 37 SIC codes describing the wide range of business support services that keep South African organisations running. The section includes rental and leasing of vehicles, machinery and equipment, employment activities such as recruitment and labour broking, travel agencies and tour operators, security and investigation, building and landscape services (cleaning and gardening), as well as office administrative, call-centre, debt collection and other business support services.

The codes are grouped into divisions 77 to 82. Each SIC code page on the site provides the Stats SA description, the parent division, the SETA allocation — most commonly Services SETA, with SASSETA for security and investigation, CATHSSETA for travel and tour operators, and TETA for vehicle rental — and links to related OFO occupation codes and NQF qualifications for cleaners, security officers, recruitment consultants, call-centre agents and office administrators.

Use Section N when registering a support-services business with CIPC, applying for a PSiRA registration for security companies, complying with the Labour Relations Act and Temporary Employment Services rules, submitting workplace skills plans, or preparing B-BBEE scorecards under the relevant sector codes. The classification is essential for distinguishing between core operational activities and outsourced support services.

Whether you operate a recruitment agency, a contract cleaning firm, a security company, a call centre, a car-rental fleet or a travel agency, Section N gives you the precise SIC reference and connects it to the wider regulatory and skills environment.
