Section A of the South African Standard Industrial Classification (SIC 7) covers agriculture, forestry and fishing — the primary sector that feeds the country's economy and supplies raw materials to manufacturing, retail and export industries. On this page you can browse all 38 SIC codes grouped into three divisions: crop and animal production, hunting and related service activities (Division 01, 30 codes); forestry and logging (Division 02, 4 codes); and fishing and aquaculture (Division 03, 4 codes).

Each code in this section identifies a specific economic activity, from cereal and vegetable cultivation, livestock farming, mixed farming and game ranching to silviculture, timber harvesting, marine and freshwater fishing, and the operation of fish hatcheries. The classification follows the structure used by Statistics South Africa, SARS and CIPC for company registration, tax filing, BEE reporting and statistical surveys.

Use Section A to find the correct SIC code when registering a company with CIPC, completing UIF or COIDA submissions, applying for the Employment Tax Incentive, or preparing B-BBEE documentation. Each code page on the site shows the official description, the parent division, the SETA allocation (typically AgriSETA or FP&M SETA for forestry), related OFO occupation codes, and links to relevant NQF qualifications.

The directory is regularly updated to match the current SIC 7 edition issued by Stats SA. Whether you are an accountant, HR practitioner, business owner or researcher, this section gives you a fast, reliable reference for every agriculture, forestry and fishing activity recognised in South Africa.
